Every mover, packer, porter and driver at Anthony Ward Thomas comes to you fully trained. And since we adhere to the British Association of Removers (BAR) Code of Practice, you can relax in the knowledge that you’re in safe and capable hands. Many of our road crews come to us with considerable prior experience, but we’re also adept at spotting new talent and honing it with our in-house training. By the time new members of staff go out on moving assignments, they’re able to think and act quickly, identifying potential problems before they occur and nipping them in the bud so that our clients are never unduly hassled.
Anthony Ward Thomas training starts with a video induction, reminding our team members about health and safety, working at heights and – for drivers – all the latest information about light goods vehicles. We then put on a dress rehearsal, using a mock-up vehicle in our training room. This is when new staff learn how a typical day unfolds; first, they consult with the operations manager, discover which job they’ve been assigned and make sure they have all the equipment requisite to carrying out the job. Then it’s time to call their respective clients to let them know they’re on the way. We always keep our clients in the loop. While our competitors generally disregard punctuality, we consider it a form of basic courtesy and will be with you when we say we will. Once we’ve arrived we’ll go from room to room, working our what needs to be packed, and we’ll never track dirt into the property. The practice vehicle in our training room gives new team members a chance to learn how to handle valuable and fragile items, such as glass-fronted cabinets, works of art, and pianos. We’ll also teach them IT relocation – a delicate art that requires finesse and a cool head. Moving jobs are concluded by talking to the client and making sure they’re happy in their new premises. Our road teams never simply drag you from one place to another – they want to leave you feeling settled and they know that moving can cause emotional upheaval.
At Anthony Ward Thomas, we don’t rest on our laurels. Instead, we provide ongoing and refresher training so that no one’s skills become lapsed or jaded. We also run an advanced training programme, so that our talented movers know how to remove a sash window and then put it back in, take a grand piano apart and then reassemble it, uninstall kitchen equipment such as dishwashers and then plumb them back in, and learn to carry any and every kind of complicated furniture. Our printed training manuals ensure that no technique is forgotten and we issue them to all our personnel. All Anthony Ward Thomas road teams are trained in accordance with BAR standards so that every time you move with us, you’ll get a dependability and competence that far exceeds your experiences with other companies.
