London’s Most Peaceful Areas – Top 5

London is one of the most diverse cities in the world. Every area has its own character and style. Some areas are renowned for shopping or entertainment. Others are top residential hot spots for high-end properties. The places where we choose to live reflect something about our lifestyles and the property type highlights our taste and budget.

London life comes in all shapes and sizes, and we all want something different. For those of us who crave quieter surroundings, London has some perfect places to set up home. Here are our favourite peaceful areas in London.

Ward Thomas’s Top Five Peaceful Areas in London –

St. John’s Wood – sometimes known as a small town within a city, St. John’s Wood is a great place to live, especially if you need a more peaceful setting. Typified by its villa style of housing, this lesser-known area in London remains something of a best-kept secret. With a Michelin star restaurant, some of the best schools in London and plenty of green spaces, St. John’s Wood wins our top spots.

Hampstead Village – right next to the famous Heath, Hampstead Village is a quaint and vibrant area by day, but it tones down later as the evening approaches. A beautiful place to live and it ticks the peaceful box. The village is one of the most unique spots in London for shopping and cafés, and you’re only a short walk away from one of the best places to see London’s Skyline on Parliament Hill.

Putney – if you’re looking for cosy and comfortable cafés and coffee shops, relaxed pubs and excellent restaurants, then Putney should be on your wish list. Although a very popular area, the atmosphere of calm has remained much the same for over a hundred years. Putney’s reputation for being less urban and more akin to a market town makes it one of the contenders for the most peaceful area in London.

Holland Park – renowned for its luxury properties, Holland Park, can be a lively place during the day. As we head into the later afternoon and evening, the noise levels in Holland Park reduce nicely. There are still plenty of things to do on an evening, especially during the summer months, but nothing that will disrupt you if you want a quiet night in.

Richmond – this small suburban town is surrounded by some of the most scenic green spaces and parks in London. It’s an attractive place for shopper but don’t let this put you off. Richmond is one of the quietest places to live in London. Richmond is surrounded by conservation areas, such as Richmond Park and Richmond Hill, which makes it less likely for any major construction projects.

A Busy Day at the Office, and a Nice Quiet Night at Home –

Now that you have Ward Thomas’s favourite places for peace and quiet,  it’s time to contact some estate agents in each area. It’s always a good idea to get some professional help when you’re relocating.  A good estate agent will do a lot of the work for you. They’ll put you into their system and will match you against their available properties. By doing this, you’ll be able to get them to filter out the properties that don’t suit your criteria and save the ones that do.

Before you know it, you’ll be able to unwind and relax in your new home in one of the more peaceful and quiet areas in London. Just remember to turn the email notifications off – those work emails can wait. After a busy day at the office, you’ve earned a nice quiet night at home.
